Election Commission of Pakistan's Federal Secretary Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad inaugurated the most sophisticated IT Infrastructure installed to cater the Computerised Electoral Rolls at Provincial HQs in Sindh. Addressing the participants on the occasion, Kanwar highlighted the need of this sophisticated infrastructure to cater huge data of Computerised Electoral Rolls in Pakistan with its ownership of ECP.
He also declared achievement of this goal as of international standard, which would certainly help in future General/Local Government Elections, Bye-Elections and also would enable ECP to update those Electoral Rolls at their own level.
It was also decided as per directions of Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan Justice (former) Qazi Muhammad Farooque that in the instance Bye-Elections to the 319 vacant seats in Union Councils would be held within couple of weeks, so that Electoral College for 12 vacant seats of District Councils including one District Nazim Nawabshah, whereas 20 vacant seats of Taluka/Town Nazims and Naib Nazims including 13 seats of Taluka/Town Nazims will be completed, thereafter the Elections of the vacant seats of Nazims/Naib Nazims in District/ Taluka/ Town will be held immediately after the Electoral College is completed.
Kanwar also reviewed the progress so far made by the Electoral Reform Committee and said the reports had already been received from all the Working Groups on the basis of their extensive deliberations, discussions and recommendations by National/International Elections Observers/Groups/Missions reports, suggestions of the Political Parties, Civil Society as well as professional feed back of Working Groups consisting upon the Deputy Election Commissioners/Assistant Election Commissioners and Senior officers of ECP Sectt, lslamabad/Provincial Election Commissioners.
