Sindh Health Minister, Dr Saghir Ahmed has said that a special media campaign will be launched against AIDS, Hepatitis B and C, TB, Polio, Dengue fever besides for mother and child care and treatment and care in Diahorrea. Chairing a meeting in his office, the Health Minister said that a special documentary would be run on state and private television channels to create awareness among people against contagious diseases.
He described before hand awareness against various diseases taking place in Sindh among people was need of the hour so that those were controlled prior to their outbreak as an epidemic. The Minister noted that projects on protection against various diseases were not properly creating awareness about "issues" and as a result the people had to face problems.
He asked the officials that besides television channels, the awareness drive should also be launched through various radio channels, print media and cable operators and for this purpose a "pooling system" consisting of all the ongoing projects would be started. Dr Saghir directed all the Project Directors to strengthen their mutual liaison and also work for capacity building of officials involved through seminars and workshops in various districts.
