Towel Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (TMA) and Pakistan Bedwear Exporters Association (PBEA) have urged the government to restore R&D support to crisis-ridden home textile sector. In a statement here on Saturday, TMA Chairman Syed Usman Ali said an urgent meeting of TMA and PBEA had noted that discontinuation of R&D facility from July 2008, had harmed home textile sector.
The problem has been compounded after the recent rise in electricity tariff, high mark up and rampant inflation. Usman Ali pointed out said that participants were of the opinion that 22 percent devaluation of currency did not support the value added textile sector.
