The government has decided to hold balloting of the applications for Haj under government scheme on September 17. This decision was made in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Advisor to Prime Minister on Religious Affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi on Saturday. It was decided that the date for submission of Haj applications under the private Haj scheme will be extended to September 22.
Under the private scheme 79,647 pilgrims will perform Haj this year, the meeting was informed. The meeting was informed that 149,280 applications have been received under government scheme, out of which 85,000 applicants will be selected through computerised ballot. The balloting will be held in the committee room of the Ministry in presence of media and intending pilgrims.
