Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Chief Mohammad Pervez Rathore awarded cash prizes and commendatory certificates to the officials of Investigation Police Cantt Division for arresting kidnappers and recovering UK-returned woman from their possession. He gave away CC-II certificates and Rs 2,000 cash among members of the police team.
The CCPO said that safeguarding citizens' lives and property was the prime responsibility of police, so the officials should perform duty with dedication and alacrity. Those who received the cash prizes and certificates include Incharge Investigation South Cantt Ghulam Abbas, Sub-inspector Faiz Rabbani, ASI Mohammad Arif, and two constables Sadar Khan and Talaat Raoof.
The victim Egibel, British-national Pakistani, arrived at Lahore airport from London on July 10. She came to Pakistan to look after her ailing sister. The accused Ali Muqadas and Shahida Bibi, who knew the family for a long time, took the responsibility of taking her to Faisalabad from the airport. They hired a cab and took her to a rented house at College Road Township on the pretext of brief rest.
Meanwhile, they served intoxicated cold drink to her, upon which she fell unconscious. They tied up the lady and administered additional dose of sedatives to her intravenously. They made a phone call to the victim's daughters living in London and demanded 5,000 UK pounds for her release.
The lady's brother C-Dut rushed to the city and informed Sarwar Road police which directed him to take the kidnappers into confidence. The plan worked as the kidnappers asked the complainant to reach opposite Hafeez Centre Gulberg.
After a short interval, the accused Muqadas came there in a rickshaw and received Rs 1,20,000 as ransom from the complainant. The police captured the accused red-handed. Later, the police raided the house at Butt Chowk Township, arrested another accused Shahida Bibi and recovered the abductee and her valuables.
