The Chairman of the Institute of Management Committee (IMC) and Chief Executive of Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC), Professor Arshad Javed, has said that 14 new wards would be established in the hospital, and added that 729 doctors were completing their specialisation at Postgraduate Medical Institute.
This he stated while highlighting the performance of IMC and HMC in a meeting here which was presided over by Provincial Minister for Health Zahir Ali Shah. MPAs Saqibullah Khan Chamkani and Ateefur Rehman, Dr Muhammad Arif, Sajad Ahmad and Medical Superindent (MS) of the hospital attended the meeting. He said that 106 research papers were produced by the institution last year, while 954 FCPS and 428 Diploma holders had been produced.
He said that 471,089 patients were treated in the OPD of the hospital and 73,104 patients were admitted in the hospital in 2007. Similarly, he said, 499,906 labouratory tests were undertaken in the hospital last year. The IMC chairman said that nurses' hostels, conference room, and hospital building were renovated recently. Car park of the hospital was expanded, and a number of steps were taken for beautification of the hospital.
NWFP Minister for Health Zahir Ali Shah underlined the need of devising mechanism for round the clock utilisation of labouratory and other diagnostic services which existed in the public sector hospitals to ensure its efficient use.
The Minister directed the management of the hospital to give due weight to the suggestions presented by members of the IMC. He also asked the medical staff to deal with the needy patients politely. "Beside care and medicines, pleasant attitude is also essential", he stressed.
The Minister also stressed the need for chalking out proper mechanism for deployment of the specialist doctors, who had completed their specialisation, in DHQ and THQ hospitals. The Minister also suggested preparation of incentive package for the technical staff to ensure round the clock utilisation of diagnostic services in government run hospitals.
He assured the management of the hospital of full co-operation of the government. On this occasion, establishment of charity wing in public sector hospital was suggested to benefit the needy patients. Earlier, the Minister inaugurated the newly completed beautification work in the hospital. He also planted a sapling at the premises of the hospital.
