The President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Shamim Ahmed Shamsi, has recommended to the government that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) and National Electric and Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) should be reconstituted with participation from private sector. In a communication to the government the KCCI chief further recommended that the two authorities should be headed by a retired judge of Supreme Court.
The KCCI chief also urged the government to provide a copy of the agreement made at the time of privatisation of KESC to Aljamoiah. He also demanded that the copy of the terms and conditions agreed with the new party as even today Karachi is being discriminated and KCCI would like to understand and monitor.
"Today we all know that KESC has changed hands from the previous owner Aljamoiah to Abraj. He said that Karachi Chamber has been saying since August 2006 that Karachi would be facing darkness and the private owner of KESC is not fulfilling its commitments of remaining and investment," he said.
