CT2017: Champions return home
Pakistan’s Champions Trophy winning squad received a hero’s welcome with when they landed separately in their respective cities in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed along with Rumman Raees landed at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, while, Babar Azam, Ahmed Shehzad, Fahim Ashraf and Hasan Ali landed at Allama Iqbal International airport.
The proud of Pakistan, Fakhar Zaman along with another player reached Peshawar. Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan landed in Islamabad.
Despite wee hours of the day, there was a huge crowd present at all the airports to receive their Champion players showering flower petals on them, players were presented with bouquets, and monuments by ministers of the respective cities or province then they were escorted in VIP protocol to their residence.
Police band played their tunes as their tribute to the team.
Mayor Karachi, Waseem Akhtar and Governor Sindh, Muhammad Zubair welcomed Sarfraz Ahmed and Rumman Raees at the Jinnah International airport and greeted them with traditional presents of Ajrak and Sindhi Topi.
Fans were present at airport at 02:30 AM, they were chanting Pakistan Zindabad slogans and were eager to see their heroes.
There were banners that bore messages like “Champion of champions. Team Pakistan! Welcome back after such a tremendous victory.”
Hasan Ali reached his hometown, whereas Fakhar Zaman received an overwhelming welcome at the Peshwar airport.
Parents of all these cricketers are extremely proud of them, these moments of celebrations are expected to be continued late in the day today.
