Capital City Police officer (CCPO), Muhammad Pervez Rathore has urged police officers to take solid measures for apprehending proclaimed offenders and court absconders for curbing crimes. He issued these instructions during his surprise visits to five police stations and two police posts of Lahore, here on Wednesday.
The CCPO also reviewed cleanliness conditions of police stations and checked their record and directed for further improvement. Police station and posts visited by CCPO, included Naseerabad police station, Kot Lakhpat police station, Manga Mandi police station, Chung police station, Sunder Police Post and Su-e-Assal Police Post.
The CCPO was informed that the ongoing campaign against court absconders and proclaimed offenders has proved very successful as 7102 proclaimed offenders and 5660 court absconders have been nabbed during the last eight months.
CCPO also directed police to seek public co-operation in the eradication of crimes. He said that strict action would be taken without any discrimination against police officials and influential persons patronising criminal elements.
He said that a project is being evolved for re-construction and renovation of police stations of Lahore, which will further improve performance of Lahore police.
CCPO was informed that non-dialling telephones are being installed in the police stations of Lahore, which will help, address complaints regarding difficulty in contacting police stations.
He further said that such police officers would be encouraged who would perform better with regard to curb crimes and protect life and property of citizens, however, he warned of taking action against corrupt and inefficient police officials. He directed Divisional SPs to further improve patrolling system and maintain a watchful eye on the activities of miscreants. He also directed to promote community policing.
