Naib Amir Jamaat-i-Islami Liaquat Baloch has announced that the JI will hold a three-day train march from October 17 from Peshawar to Karachi to protest the economic and foreign policies of the government. Addressing an Iftar dinner hosted by Jamaat-i-Islami Punjab chapter here on Wednesday, he said the train march would be led by the JI chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed.
He alleged that the government was not serious in providing relief to the people and demanded that it should reduce the prices of petroleum as per decline in international market. The prices of gasoline were determined according to the international market trends but unfortunately, the change in it that could benefit people was not being shifted here, he added. He particularly mentioned increase in diesel prices, which he said, had hit the people hard.
He criticised President Asif Ali Zardari and said that the country was passing through difficult times while the president was visiting abroad. He also said that Jamaat-i-Islami would continue its struggle for making Pakistan an Islamic state. He said that they would resist any move, which would covert Pakistan into an American colony.
