Every year Pakistani students have been performing extremely well in the British examinations because they work very hard. This was stated by John Gildes, Director Examinations Services Pakistan British Council.
Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, he said that popular examinations those days were pertaining to the business and commercial area- business studies, economics etc. Gildes pointed out that those examinations were conducted by a number of awarding bodies including the Cambridge International Examinations and by Edexl International.
He said that those examinations were very popular with the private schools sector in Pakistan. "And the students in Pakistan do well, extremely well", Gildes further commented. He said the number of candidates in these examinations seems to be increasing every year. However, he would not give any figures in this respect because each candidate does a number of different exams so it is quite difficult to work out the precise figures.
Gildes was however of the view that the increase was probably seven to eight percent each year in terms of individuals doing exams. "So its growing in popularity rather than decreasing", he further stated. Gildes said, "We are also working with the Pakistan Ministry of Education to make sure that the O levels and A levels are equivalent to the Pakistani schools qualifications as this is very important that they have a formal equivalence."
