Punjab Minister for Population Welfare, Neelam Jabbar Chaudhry has said that reformatory initiatives are being introduced in education, health and other social sectors that would provide relief to the masses and improve their living standard.
While talking to various delegations on Friday, Neelam said that in order to achieve results of the proposed reformatory agenda, a comprehensive and effective monitoring and evaluation system is being implemented at district and provincial levels.
She said that Rs 58.64 billion would be spent on social sector development programme whereas, Rs 30 billion have been earmarked for educational development projects and Rs 26.10 billion to ensure healthcare facilities to the masses in the current fiscal year.
In order to provide standardised medicines at reasonable prices to the public, she said efforts would be made at federal level for effective drug pricing policy. Further, the Minister said that due to practical steps taken to overhaul the education sector, dropout rate would be decreased and new students would be enrolled in schools and missing facilities in the schools, especially in rural areas would be given.
Neelam also talked about an action plan, which is underway for supply of clean and safe water to the masses of the province while Rs 8 billion have been provided in the current fiscal year for this purpose, she said. Furthermore, an amount of Rs 3 billion would be spent on up-gradation of drainage and sewerage system of five big cities in the province, she said adding that Rs 2 billion would be spent for the provision of better atmosphere in Katchi Abadies in Punjab.
