The district administration here on Friday made surprise raids on various bazaars and checked the prices of different edible and quality of food items. The special teams arrested and fined 17 shopkeepers for overcharging and not displaying the price lists, which was mandatory for them. The action has been taken in pursuance of the directives of DCO Peshawar.
It may be recalled that 145 shopkeepers and retailers have been arrested by the City police during last two days for overcharging and not displaying the price lists. Meanwhile, the residents of Bakhsu Pul has expressed their deep concern over the negligence of concerned authorities for overlooking their areas where meat, vegetables and flour are being sold at high prices. They urged the concerned authorities to take practical steps for controlling the unprecedented hike in the city.
