Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif has said that his party wanted to help government to improve the law and order situation and protect life and property of the people. He was talking to mediamen at the Allama Iqbal Airport, Lahore on Monday night before his departure to Saudi Arabia for performing Umrha.
Nawaz urged the government to immediately convene Parliament's session to discuss the recent dastardly bomb blasts and formulate its policy on 'war on terror' in light of the recommendations of the parliamentarians.
He said the government should send a clear message to the world that Pakistan's parliament is sovereign and it would take decisions on all matters including the menace of terrorism in light of its wisdom and national interest.
Nawaz said though President Zardari has called for setting up a bipartisan parliamentary committee to make recommendations for abrogation of the 17th Amendment including Article 58-(2) B, but no time frame has been set for the committee to finalise its mandate.
He said there is now no hurdle in the way of the Parliament to act and solve constitutional, legal, economic and political problems of the people.
