Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday spoke to his Afghan counterpart Dr Rangin Dadfar Spanta in New York on the kidnapping of Abdul Khaliq Farahi, Consul General of Afghanistan in Peshawar and the Ambassador-designate to Pakistan.
Foreign Minister Qureshi strongly condemned the kidnapping and extended his deep condolences on the death of Farahi's driver who lost his life in the unfortunate incident. Foreign Minister Qureshi assured Foreign Minister Spanta that the government of Pakistan was taking all necessary measures for the safe and early recovery of Ambassador-designate.
Farahi is well respected in Pakistan for his commendable work toward promotion of Pak-Afghan relations. Foreign Minister Qureshi and Foreign Minister Spanta both are in New York with their respective Presidents to attend the 63rd UN General Assembly session.
