It is all about joyful ride and enjoyment of protocol for the acting president of Pakistan, Mohammedmian Soomro and other ruling elites of the country. Bombing or suicide attacks can not deter them from their hobby of using protocol and official facilities even much beyond those written in the blue book.
They lived up to their lifestyle on the day of deadly suicidal attack on Marriott Hotel in Islamabad that claimed lives of 80 innocents, besides seriously wounding another around 265, majority of whom is still fighting for lives at different hospitals of twin cities.
Soomro has been in power since long and knows when and how to enjoy protocol and other authorities as acting president. Since taking over as chairman Senate, every time he gets schedule of the president of Pakistan for a visit to any country and he asks his close friends and relatives to arrange marriages and their engagements till he takes charge as acting president. As always, acting president followed the same lifestyle when newly elected Asif Ali Zardari left for US visit on Sunday morning.
He air dashed to Lahore on special plane of the president to visit some of his friends in Lahore within hours after Asif Ali Zardari's departure from Islamabad. He loves to have protocol of the acting president and flying on president's special plane.
As per blue book the provincial governments are required to give the protocol of the president to acting president. So its additional fun for the acting president. Soomro needs not to bother what does the government's austerity drive mean. And why should he think of it when Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani who heads the government does the same himself. He also did not like to stay in Islamabad when his party chief and president of Pakistan was not in town.
The only difference this time was addition of Speaker National Assembly Fahmida Mirza in merrymaking game. She too got an opportunity to fly to US with 10 parliamentarians after Asif Ali Zardari's 'historic' visit to New York.
Who else other than Advisor on Interior Rehman Malik was left from the government side in the capital to issue policy statements on Marriott Hotel carnage. He is doing his level best to make Pakistani 'trust' that their rulers completely share the grief and sorrow with them on Marriott Hotel tragedy. Perhaps each time he is adding to confusion and so no one really believe in what he is claiming forcefully in front of the cameras.
