Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Chairman Parliamentary Kashmir Committee and Chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islama (JUI) has asked the government to bring the war on terror issue in Parliament and discuss the issue in the house to develop a consensus on it.
Talking to reporters in Parliament Lodges after his return from Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, he criticised the role of Rehman Malik, advisor to Prime Minister on Interior and said that in spite of his tall claims and assurances the operation in tribal areas during the holy month of Ramazan was not stopped.
Condemning the deadly Marriott Hotel blast, he said that the loss of innocent lives has shattered the confidence of people regarding security situation in country. He blamed Rehman Malik for security failure in the capital and asked him to tender resignation. He said that in spite of big failure, Rehman Malik is trying to take credit and talking tall to show that he is main pillar of the security system.
He emphasised the need to constitute a special committee to probe the deadly blast at Marriott Hotel and bring on surface the reasons behind targeting the hotel, situated in the red zone.
"We are unable to understand as the statements from responsible people are giving different position than the actual," he said. It is high time for the government to take stock of the worsening situation in the country, otherwise it will lead Pakistan towards disintegration, he cautioned, adding that any wrong step by the government at this crucial juncture would cost heavy to the country. "Before any disintegration government should take all political parties into confidence, if they need our co-operation we will help them whole-heartedly," he added.
He said that the war on terror needs to be discussed in detail in the parliament. This war has done huge damage to the country and has shattered the socio-economic structure of Pakistan.
He urged the government to find a political solution to the prevailing situation in tribal areas saying that use of force would further worsen the situation. Dialogues are must and both the sides should show sagacity and flexibility in their attitudes, he added.
Talking about Kashmir issue, he said that Parliamentary Kashmir Committee in consultation with all members would prepare recommendations for peaceful solution of the longstanding Kashmir dispute. These recommendations will be submitted to the government and the Parliament. As Chairman of Kashmir Committee, he would try to come up to the expectations of the nation, he said.
