Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Friday inaugurated Pakistan Television's news studio equipped with advanced 'tapeless and paperless' technology, the first of its kind in South Asia. Prime Minister launched PTV's state-of-the-art set up at PTV Centre by pressing a button, that initiated the functioning of new fully digital service.
The Prime Minister congratulated PTV team for using advanced technology for the better transmission of news in competitive media world. He hoped that PTV's news service would further thrive in the digital environment. He appreciated PTV's Chairman and Managing Director Dr Shahid Masood for rendering his services for improvement of the organisation, in terms of quality production and advanced technology.
Dr Shahid Masood briefed the Prime Minister about the Rs 200 million project, that would involve the use of only computers instead of the earlier paperwork. He said the studio contains 70 news terminals and a large video wall, at which six windows can be opened simultaneously for receiving news feed.
He said the news studio, which would also act as an exquisite storage system or news archive, would be capable of prompt transmission of news received from different sources, without the use of videotapes. The studio would provide an environment to process the news under one roof. The other features include apparatus for high definition broadcast quality, latest cool lighting system and video-audio interaction.
Earlier, the Prime Minister witnessed the damaged areas of PTV building in the wake of Marriott blast and appreciated the PTV team for making an unhindered transmission even soon after the tragic incident. Information Secretary Akram Shaheedi and PTV's high officials were also present.
