Shab-e-Qadr; The night of power and forgiveness
Laylatul Qadr or commonly known as Shab-e-Qadr, the ‘Night of Power’ is full of blessings because the eminent Quran descended in it. The Quran is peace by itself, this being so, the Night in which this Divine Book was sent down is worthy of great esteem. During this night the Angels and the Heavenly spirit (Hazrat Gibreel Alai-his-Salam) descend. Their nearness to earth gives a spiritual luster to the hearts and souls of the believers.
So valuable is this Night of Qadr that the Quran devotes a special Surah to it, “Lailatul Qadr is better than a thousand months” [97:3].
This one night surpasses the value of 30,000 nights. The most authentic account of the occurrence of the Night indicates that it can occur on any one of the last ten, odd numbered nights of Ramadan (21, 23, 25, 27, 29). It’s mentioned in Sahih Muslim, Vol No. 2, in the Book of Fasting, that the Prophet said, “On the night of Lailatul Qadr, the moon will appear like a plate towards the fag end of the month.”
It’s further mentioned in Sahi Muslim and Bukhari that, Abu Huraira (RA) narrated that the Prophet (P.B.U.H) said, “Whoever stands (in prayer) in Laylat al-Qadr while nourishing his faith with self-evaluation, expecting reward from Allah, will have all of his previous sins forgiven.”
As Ramazan is coming to its end, we have to roll up our sleeves in order to double our ibadat especially during the nights.
