Steady trend was seen on the interbank market on Saturday as the rupee did not show any change against dollar for buying and selling at 78.15 and 78.20, currency analysts added. Good supply of dollars helped the rupee to retain its overnight level versus the greenback, they said. In the New York market dollar was lower against the major currencies, they said.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee rose by 20 paisa against dollar for buying at 78.00 and it also gained 30 paisa for selling at 78.30, dealers said. The rupee held it overnight firmness against euro, rising 95 paisa for buying and selling at Rs 112.64 and Rs 112.74, they said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee recovered some of its earlier loss and improved its value by 30 paisa on buying side and 20 paisa on selling side in relation to the greenback in the kerb market on Saturday. The dollar's demand could not remain intact that helped rupee appreciation in the open market. The dollar slide down to Rs 78.00 and Rs 78.40 on buying and selling sides against Friday's closing of Rs 78.30 and Rs 78.60 respectively. However, the rupee showed stability and remained unchanged against the pound sterling. The pound was traded at overnight closing of Rs 142.50 and Rs 143.50 on buying and selling counters respectively.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee gained 10 paisa against dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Saturday. The dollar opened at Rs 78 (buying) and Rs 78.10 (selling) against last rate of Rs 78.10 (buying) and Rs 78.20 (selling). It did not under further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 78 (buying) and Rs 78.10 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 143 (buying) and Rs 143.50 (selling) against last rate of Rs 144 (buying) and Rs 144.50 (selling). It did not change further in the second session and closed at Rs 144 (buying) and Rs 144.50 (selling).
