Kashmiri people dwelling both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and rest of the world will observe right to self-determination day on October 14 under the auspices of All Parties Adhoc Committee for Right to Self-Determination.
This was announced by Aman Ullah Khan, president of his own faction of JKLF (Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front) and convenor of the All Parties Adhoc Committee while addressing a news conference here on Sunday. "The adhoc committee comprised of heads and representatives of 13 leading parties of AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan", Khan told the conference.
"The observance of the day will be aimed to exert pressure for early grant of globally-acknowledged legitimate right to self-determination to the people of Jammu and Kashmir", he said.
Members of the sub-committee from Mirpur including Abdul Hamid Butt (JKLF), Iftikhar Hshmi (Jamaat-i-Islami), Naeem Azam (Liberation League) and Shakoor Mughal (Muslim Conference) were also present at the news conference.
He said that public rallies, processions, demonstrations and seminars by Kashmiris in all eight district headquarters of AJK and Northern Areas, major towns in occupied Kashmir, various parts of the country including Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi and abroad including New York, London and Brussels, will be the hall-mark of the day.
Aman Ullah Khan said that joint memorandums comprising Kashmiris long-cherished demand for the early grant of their birth right to self determination will be handed over to the UN Secretary General, European Parliament in Brussels, Secretariat of British Friend Parliament members.
Khan said that All Parties Adhoc Committee for Right to self-determination was formed to exert pressure for early peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue through grant of the right of self-determination to the basic stakeholder Jammu & Kashmir people, in the light of the global norms and commitments.
The All Parties Adhoc Committee is comprising 13 major parties including Muslim Conference, Pakistan Peoples Party AJK, Peoples Muslim League, JKLF, Jammu Kashmir Peoples Party, Liberation League, Jamaat-i-Islami, Gilgit-Baltistan National Alliance, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Jameeat Ulema-e-J&K, Baltistan National Front, Islamic Democratic Party, PPP (Shaheed Bhutto AJK Chapter) and Amanullah Khan (JKLF in personal capacity), he added.
