Heavy vehicles are not at all allowed to enter Islamabad without the `permit passes' due to the prevailing law and order situation and Marriott blast on September 20, the Capital police said on Sunday.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations), Ahmed Latif has said that heavy vehicles are banned within the city keeping in view the law and order situation and protection to the life and property of the citizens. He said that such vehicles will have to get the `permits' for their entry to Islamabad from the Secretary, Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA) of the district administration.
"Those getting permits would face no inconvenience," the SSP said and asked the owners of all private companies, corporations, catering services, petrol pumps, factories, goods forwarding and construction companies to get permit from the Secretary, ITA.
The drivers of vehicles would show the permit at the police pickets before entrance, he said and assured every possible co-operation from the local police.
Latif said it is the prime responsibility of the police to protect the lives and property of the people and every effort would be made to fulfil this task. The SSP also appealed citizens to co-operate with public and inform Rescue 15 police after looking suspects or suspected materials. Meanwhile, the SSP has also directed all the Sub-Divisional Police Officers and Station House Officers to monitor themselves checking at all entry and exit points. He also directed to co-operate with citizens and avoid teasing them without any reason.
