Additional police forces were deployed on all the passenger trains during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays across the country to ensure safety of the travellers. Inspector General, Pakistan Railways Police, Mirza Muhammad Ali told APP on Friday police contingents equipped with sophisticated weapons were deployed on all the trains for the protection of passengers.
He said all Divisional SPs and DSPs checked the security arrangements of trains before departure, adding that concerned SHOs were responsible for the proper implementation of security plan. The IG said that police were deployed at all important and sensitive installations of railways while round-the-clock patrolling was also conducted in and around all the important railway stations throughout the country.
Further, IG said on the special directive of Chairman, Pakistan Railways, Kashif Murtaza, a special complaint centre has been established at his office in the city to redress complaints against the conduct of Railways police. He said that DIG Railways Police, Muhammad Anwar Virk was entrusted the task to monitor the overall performance of all SSP and DSPs throughout the country by conducting series of surprise visits to important railway stations and vital railway installations.
