The Americans, after their poor performance in Afghanistan, are suggesting that Nato, Afghan and Pak forces be organised to deal with Taliban in the tribal areas of Pakistan. They want to lure Pakistan by offering some cookies in the shape of economic and military aid. Right now no Nato country is prepared to beef up its forces in Afghanistan.
US manpower position for any reinforcement in Afghanistan is pathetic. This is a ploy to involve Pakistan forces to open a front within its own borders to allow killing of its citizens by Nato forces and Afghans. US Defence Secretary has come up with a bright idea that tribal areas are a threat to US. What an argument! The same story was put forth when US invaded Iraq saying that it had Weapons of Mass Destruction. None were found.
President Zardari-Bush meeting produced no meaningful results. Time has come that we debate the issue of war on terror in the Parliament and let our American friends know that we have problems assisting them in war on terror.
