The present government has summoned the joint session of the parliament on Wednesday (tomorrow) to discuss the policy and strategy on war on terror.
Pakistan People's Party Spokesman Farhatullah Baber said the debate on the issue in the parliament would not only help devise a plan as per the aspirations of the representatives of the people but would also provide an opportunity to take the masses into confidence on the issue.
Talking to VoA he said his party considers the previous policy in regard to war on terror as a one-man policy orchestrated by Pervez Musharraf. Pakistani nation and political parties were neither consulted nor taken into confidence on this issue in the past. The government would be listening to the point of view of all political parties through their representatives in the parliament besides ascertaining the general sentiments of the people and their representatives about the role of Pakistan in the war on terrorism.
The heads of security and intelligence agencies are expected to brief the members about the challenges being faced by the country and Pakistan's role in the war against terror, he said. To a question he said his party policy is to ascertain public opinion and take all sections of the society into confidence, especially, the members of the Parliament with regard to fighting terrorism and extremism.
As some matters of sensitive nature are likely to be discussed, therefore, it has been decided that the session should be held in camera.
