Every patriotic Pakistani should come forward and play his due role for the elimination of terrorism, as only those nations survive which face every challenge with courage and determination and as a living nation we should spare no effort to counter terrorism.
Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, said this while presiding over a high-level meeting held to review law and order situation in the province, here on Wednesday.
Shahbaz said that terrorists are enemies of humanity and collective efforts are needed to eliminate the scourge of terrorism. He also directed authorities concerned to utilise all available resources for the protection of life and property of citizens. Directing to review and beef up security arrangements, he warned that no laxity would be tolerated in this regard. He also ordered posting of DPO Bhakker as OSD for dereliction of duty.
The Chief Minister said that government is taking all out measures for coping with the challenge of terrorism but the government efforts cannot succeed without the co-operation of the people. He directed that security and checking system should further be improved at the entry and exit points of the city and close circuit cameras should also be installed. He said that efforts on war footing be made for rooting out terrorism.
He directed formation of a high level committee to formulate recommendations to improve law and order. The committee will submit its recommendations to the Chief Minister within three days.
The Chief Minister further directed that co-ordination between different agencies be maintained so as to deal with any untoward situation. He said that every member of police force should play an active role for the protection of life and property of the citizens.
The meeting which lasted for more than two hours was attended by Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah, Advisor to Chief Minister Saeed Mehdi, Jahanzeb Burki, Member National Assembly Sahibzada Fazal Karim, Home Secretary, Inspector General Police as well as senior officers of concerned departments. The participants of the meeting also gave various proposals for maintaining civic peace.
