Senior Punjab Minister, Raja Riaz Ahmad has said that the government is giving special attention to improve and develop the social sector in the province. This will give people better facilities of education, healthcare, social development and provision of potable water and drainage at their doorsteps.
The government in this regard has created a fund of Rs 58.64 billion in the current development plan. He was talking to a group of NGO activists at his residence on Friday. The Raja Riaz briefed the delegation about the vision the government's vision regarding public welfare and maintained that people are the ultimate beneficiary of democracy.
Further, he said that the government is trying to ameliorate the condition of common men so that they could become economically self-sufficient and are no more dependent on the government or society.
The Senior Minister hoped that 'Benazir Income Support Programme' (BISK) would benefit the down trodden families of the society as it would assist the recipients economically. He asked the NGOs sector to launch technical and vocational training programmes for the needy persons so that they could learn to start small-scale economic activities in their areas.
