Punjab Minister for Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Dr Tanvir-ul-Islam has said that three museums are being set up in Gujrat, Multan and Katas Raj in the province, while the building of Kalar Kahar Museum is under-construction which will be completed soon.
He said this while talking to journalists here on Thursday. The provincial minister further said the concrete measures would be taken for the promotion of Punjabi language, besides extending patronage to artists to promote the cultural activities in the province. A large number of projects were being carried out in the province for the promotion of fine art by Lahore Arts Council and Punjab Arts Council, he pointed out.
Academy of Performing Art was already operating where diploma courses were offered in calligraphy, photography, drama, dance, music, violin, setar, drawing and painting as well as tabla, he maintained.
Dr Tanvir said: "The Punjab is the land of art-lovers and has a rich culture and it is our collective responsibility to transfer it to the next generation." He said the Punjab government would utilise all available resources for the promotion of art and culture.
