US cocoa futures trading on ICE tumbled in early trade on Friday, while arabica coffee was also down, but well off its lows, as global markets swooned on credit-crunch fears, traders said.
Arabica coffee for December delivery was down 1.65 cents at $1.13 per lb, by 9:21 am EDT (1321 GMT). Benchmark December cocoa was down $100, or 4.3 percent, at $2,230 per tonne by 9:23 am.
