Capital City Police Officer, Muhammad Pervez Rathore has directed the investigation officers to accelerate the pace of submission of challans of heinous crimes to different courts and pay special attention on challans pertaining to crime against person and property.
Lahore police traced around 7115 cases of crime against property and person during current year and submitted their challans to courts, he added.
While presiding over a meeting of senior police officer of investigation wing to review performance of the officials, ratio of submission of challans and investigation into various high profile cases, the Capital City Police Officer said that due to effective strategy, Lahore police have not only checked the uprising trend of crime in the city but also ensured free registration of cases and investigation wing has improved its performance.
He said that investigation wing traced 2434 cases of crime against person and sent their challans to various courts while 4681 cases pertaining to property crime have also been traced during this period.
Giving details, the Capital City Police Officer said that Lahore police submitted challans of 220 of murder, 40 of blind murder, 27 of kidnapping for ransom, 16 of robbery cum murder, 49 of dacoity, 897 of robbery, 31 cases of car snatching, 78 of motorycycle snatching, 224 of car theft while 350 challans of motorycycle theft were submitted to various courts and this performance is comparatively better as compared to last year.
Muhammad Pervez Rathore said that 1988 cases of street crime were registered during the current year out of which 785 cases were challaned and ratio of submitting of challans of street crime remained 40 percent. He said that investigation wing registered 7597 cases of illicit arms and recovered 16 kalashnikoves, 274 rifles, 421 guns, 6306 pistols and revolvers, 24 hand grenades, nine jackets and 48,942 bullets from the possession of the criminals. Likewise, 6,198 cases of narcotics were also registered and a huge quantity of narcotics was seized, he added.
He informed that Lahore police has recovered looted booty worth rupees 740 million during this period, which is almost two percent more as compared to the last year. Muhammad Pervez Rathore on this occasion directed SPs of Investigation wing to uphold merit during the inquiry of cases and set aside all pressures. He warned that strict action would be taken against the officials whose performance would be below the mark. He said that government has provided reasonable amount under cost of investigation and action would be taken against such official who would demanded expenditures of investigation.
