The commodities prices generally retreated on the wholesale markets under world impact not withstanding fluctuations were not many during the week ended on October 11, 2008. The changes were marked due to variations particularly in wheat, sugar, rapeseed Dadu, Murpur's and til, jute goods, Bajra etc.
On Monday changes were seen in rapeseed Dadu, inferior type which shed Rs 100 to Rs 1400, while the better type was unchanged at previous level Rs 1450. Murpus's rapeseed shed Rs 50 to RS 1750 while better type was quoted higher at Rs 1775, rapeseed cakes low type shed Rs 40 to Rs 750, while better quality shed Rs 45 to Rs 750, til prices dipped sharply by Rs 300 to Rs 3500, while better type turned lower by Rs 400 to Rs 3800, wheat was reported sharply higher by Rs 100 to Rs 2800 while other type was quoted higher at Rs 2815, sugar inferior type conceded Rs 150 to Rs 3300, while better quality shed Rs 200 to Rs 3200.
Jute goods on Jodia Bazaar such as (per Kg) 20x3 brown scaled higher by Rs 3 to Rs 50, 16x3 CRT/Indus rose by Rs 3 to Rs 54, 8x3 rose by Rs 2 to Rs 82 and 40x3 quoted at Rs 47.
On Tuesday just a couple of variations were marked in til, which dipped by Rs 300 to Rs 3200 while better type was quoted higher at Rs 3500, Bajra low type was up Rs 100 to Rs 2000 while the other type stayed put at previous level.
On Wednesday gur and barley were seen notching up. Gur low type rose by Rs 200 to Rs 2200 while the better type was unchanged at Rs 3200, Khandsari rose by Rs 300 to Rs 3000. Wheat old and new quoted higher at Rs 2875 to Rs 2880 and Rs 2890 to Rs 2895, barley Sindh and Mardan up by Rs 100 to Rs 2600 while the other type was quoted at Rs 2650.
On Jodia Bazaar PLASTIC MOULDINGS COMPOUNDS (per lb): HDPE (FILM) (per 1b): Saudia 952 ended down by Rs 4 to Rs 68, Mobil edged lower by Rs 4 to Rs 68 and TR144 went down by Its 7 to Rs 67.
HDPE (INJECTION): Sabic 200056 was quoted at Rs 76, Mobil 016 ended lower by Rs 5 to Rs 70 and Iran slid down by its 3 to Rs 68.
HDPE (BLOW): Kuwait moved downward by Rs 5 to Rs 70, Marlex closed lower by Rs 2 to Rs 70 and Iran went down by Rs 2 to Rs 70.
LDPE: 374 finished lower by Rs 5 to Rs 75, MG 20 was quoted at Rs 80 and MG 70 was quoted at Rs 80.
LLDPE: W118 ended lower by Rs 2 to Rs 75, 7087 closed down by Rs 4.50 to Rs 72 and Sabic 500026 moved upward by Rs 2 to Rs 80.
POLYPROPYLENE (FILM): Thai closed lower by Rs 4 to Rs 72, Kuwait finished down by Rs 4 to Rs 72 and India closed downward by Rs 4 to Its 72.
POLYPROPYLEN (TAPE GRADE): India ended lower by Re I to Rs 70, Kuwait moved downward by Re 1 to Its 70 and Saudia closed lower by Re 1 to its 70. POLYPROPYLENE (INJECTION GRADE): Saudia moved downward by Re 1 to Rs 70, India edged lower by Re 1 to Rs 70 and Kuwait went down by Re l to Rs 70. POLYSTYRENE: BASF moved lower by Rs 250 to Rs 4,000 and Pakistani was quoted at Rs 3,965.
COPOLY: Block ended lower by Rs 4 to Rs 72 and Randon finished down by Rs 4 to Its 77.
HIGH IMPACT (per bag): Pakistani was quoted at Rs 4,362.
ABS: Polylac 707 moved lower by Rs 50 to Rs 4,800 and Iran went down by Rs 50 to Rs 4,700.
On Thursday Lacklustre business was seen on the grain market as most of the items maintained the overnight levels. Sugar good type shed Rs 50 to Rs 3600 while the low quality held the overnight level at Rs 3300. Other sector did not move any side during the day, they added.
On Jodia Bazaar The trading in Kirana items moved both ways on Jodia Bazaar the following changes were noted: KIRANA ITEMS (per 40 kg):
Black pepper Singapore edged higher by Rs 200 to Rs 10,000, black pepper Brazil closed up by Rs 400 to Rs 11,000, mace moved downward by Rs 1000 to Rs 36,000, cloves went lower by Rs 500 to Rs 17,000, dry ginger (China) finished higher by Rs 150 to Rs 5,550, dry ginger (Ethiopia) moved upward by Rs 200 to Rs 3000 and cuminseed went down by Rs 300 to Rs 8,200.
On Friday VSteadier trend was seen on the grain market as almost all commodities maintained the overnight levels, dealers said.
Prices did not show any change on the grain market on Saturday as participants kept on the sidelines to analyse prevailing developments on the economic side. On Saturday trading in Kenya tea items showed mixed trend on Jodia Bazaar.
The changes were:
KENYAN TEA (per kg):
PF-1 A grade finished lower by Rs 40 to Rs 250, B grade went down by Rs 30 to Rs 240, plus C grade moved downward by Rs 35 to Rs 230 and C grade ended up by Rs 5 to Rs 230.
BP-1: A-1 grade closed lower by Rs 30 to Rs 260, B grade went down by Rs 10 to Rs 255, plus C grade edged lower by Rs 10 to Rs 250 and C grade moved downward by Rs 5 to Rs 245.
D-1: A grade went lower by Rs 25 to Rs 270, B grade closed down by Rs 10 to Rs 255, plus C grade ended downward by Rs 10 to Rs 230 and C grade went lower by Rs 5 to Rs 220.
