National Assembly member Masood Abbas was elected chairman of the Standing Committee on Housing and Works here on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by Additional Secretary of the National Assembly Moin-ul-Islam. MNA Syed Allauddin proposed name of Masood Abbas, while MNA Tahira Aurangzeb seconded.
The members of the committee congratulated the newly elected Chairman, and expressed hope that the committee's business would be carried out in consultation with all the members. The Chairman thanked the members for reposing confidence in him, and assured that he would take all the members along in disposal of the committee's business. Chief Whip Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah, speaking on the occasion, said that the election of Chairman, Standing Committee, was a step towards further strengthening the democratic system in the country.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Mahmood Hayat Khan Toochi, Tariq Shabbir, Nazir Ahmad Boghio, Syed Alla-ud-Din, Muhammad Mohsin Ali Qureshi, Tariq Mahmood Bajwa, Khalida Mansoor, Tahira Aurangzeb, Nosheen Saeed, Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan and Masood Abbas.
