Pakistan and Bangladesh have shown readiness to enhance bilateral co-operation in defence and various other fields to flourish in a challenging economy. This was discussed during a meeting between Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar and Bangladesh's Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Moeen Ahmed here on Tuesday.
During the meeting they exchanged views on various aspects of defence co-operation and underscored the need for enhanced interaction between the armed forces of the two countries. They agreed to promote people-to-people contacts between the two Muslim countries to give people a chance to meet and share their experiences.
Mukhtar briefed General Moeen about the potential of the defence industry of Pakistan. He also briefed him about the combat capability of JF-17 Thunder Aircraft, Al-Khalid and Al-Zarrar Tanks. The minister also offered assistance to Bangladesh in the field of defence, saying that Bangladesh should get benefit from the technological development of Pakistan.
The minister also apprised the visiting dignitary about the recently concluded visit of the President Asif Ali Zardari to China. He said that the visit proved highly fruitful and successful as China signed agreements and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pakistan to strengthen the strategic partnership, reinforce the multi-faceted relations and intensify economic, trade and defence co-operation.
