Federal Minister for Information Technology Qamar Zaman Kaira has stressed the need for promoting computer literacy in country. During his visit to Pakistan Computer Bureau (PCB) here on Wednesday, he appreciated the role of the PCB in promoting computer literacy, introduction of IT and development of computer skills at all levels in the government.
The Minister was informed that the PCB had trained 65,000 government employees from the year 2000 in basic IT training. To provide IT training at schools and colleges in all the four provinces, he said the department had provided 1,098 IT teachers, lab incharges and the same number of computer labs, covering 11 percent schools and colleges of the country with 39 percent more schools and colleges to be covered in Phase II. Further, the working, functioning and performance of the bureau, the technical advisory services, trainings and feasibility studies were being carried out.
