Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior Senator Talha Mahmood strongly condemned India's unlawful and wrong action of building Baglihar Dam. He said the human rights champions and peace loving countries should have come forward and stop India on breaching right of Pakistan on water.
He said no doubt after completion of Baglihar Dam, the flow of water is decreasing day by day, if we don't realise the need of the hour it would be harmful for Pakistan's economy. "It is against the historical document which is Sindh Accord and we all are well aware of this," he added.
Senator Talha said it is necessary that India should accept and respect all those agreement which are dually signed by India and Pakistan on water distribution. "Pakistan is an agriculture land, wholly dependent on water and if there is a shortfall it will be against the Sindh Accord," Talha said.
He recommends to the government that this action should be censured on all levels and should make the world realise about its importance. He said water issue is very sensitive and important and if the world and UN really want peace in this region they should have to come forward and stop India from violating these agreements and make the water distribution more judicious.
