The activists of a student organisation have badly beaten an official of the Karachi University (KU) administration when he rejected accepting illegal objection form for admission. According to detail the victim Saeed Ahmed has said that he was beaten when he rejected to receive illegal objection form, adding that his colleagues reached on the spot and saved him, otherwise he would have got serious injuries.
He demanded of the university administration to take concrete steps to provide security to its staff. Meanwhile, president, Employee's Welfare Association, KU, Kabir Ahmed, has demanded the concerned authority to probe into the matter, otherwise all working activities would be stopped and protest campaign would also be launched till the identification of students involved in this incident. He said that such incidents are taking place on daily basis, creating problems for the administration to perform their duties as per rules and regulations.
He accused the university management of not taking due actions to handle the miscreants with strong hands, adding that the administration of university always neglects non-teaching staff and encouraged students to violate the rules of the university.
He said that they have recorded their protest against this violent attack outside Vice Chancellor's office but all in veil. He said that VC, Professor Dr Pir Zada Qasim Raza Siddiqui asked them to move an application to Student Advisor for the investigation. He alleged that they have moved many application against student' misbehaviour so many times but the management has not taken any action so far in this regard.
Meanwhile, chairman, United Group Employees, Noor-ul-Ameen, KU, has condemned this violent incident, urging both students and employees to show tolerance in order to run the matters smoothly. In addition, officer, Welfare Association, KU, Adeel Ahmed Siddiqui, has appealed to the students of varsity that they came in university for studies and they should not involve in this acts of violence.
He demanded of the higher authorities to look into the matter and save them from destruction. He further said that the reason behind the increasing trend of violent incident is that the university has not conducted elections among student organisations since the last 15 years due to which every second person shows him as the president of student organisation. He stressed on the decision made by the Prime Minister, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani to hold elections at education institutes and requested to take the issue seriously.
