The row in between Atta Chakki Owners Association (ACOA) and District Government Hyderabad on the supply of wheat and enforcement of flour prices came into end, while both parties inked an agreement, allowing chakki owners for selling their flour at the rate of Rs 24.50 per Kg to the retailers and later to sale it to the consumers at Rs 25.50 per Kg.
This was agreed in the joint meeting of the ACOA Hyderabad, Shopkeepers Association, Provincial Food Department Hyderabad and Administration of District Government Hyderabad held at Shahbaz Hall, Shahbaz Building Hyderabad under the Chairmanship of DCO Hyderabad Ali Ahmed Lund today.
The Chairman Sindh Food Ministers' Vigilance Team Shah Nawaz Magsi assured the ACOA Hyderabad, that he would recommend the Sindh minister food for raising their wheat quota. It was agreed that the office-bearers of ACOA Hyderabad, along with the members of ministers' vigilance team, would visit each Atta chakki unit where they display the banner depicting flour price and get its enforcement jointly.
The stakeholders also agreed that all big Atta chakki units would maintain their records of receiving wheat quota and sale of flour to the retailers, while the small units having no staff would be exempted from this exercise. The DCO Hyderabad Ali Ahmed Lund addressing the meeting said that one rupee increase on per Kg flour price has been got approved from Sindh food minister on the assurance of the ACOA to sale the flour to the retailers at Rs 24.50 per Kg.
He said that now it was the duty of ACOA to honour their promise in their own and public interest. He said that henceforth, if any chakki owner or shopkeeper violated the agreement that would be dealt with iron hand. He said that intelligence agencies, vigilance teams, revenue magistrates have been activated and who will pay surprise visits and take action against charging high prices of flour.
He said that district government and provincial food department was putting strict vigilance over illegal trafficking of wheat, and who so ever found involved in this crime of misappropriation of wheat quota of government would be convicted according to law. The EDO revenue, DDOs revenue, officers of food department, office bearers of atta chakki owners association and shopkeeper association attended the meeting.
