Muhammad Iqbal Ebrahim, Chairman, All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) has lauded the decision of special committee constituted by the Prime Minister, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani under the Chairmanship of Raja Pervez Ashraf, Minister for Water and Power to review the issue of increase in power tariff to provide interim relief of 40 percent on current power bills.
In a statement issued to the press, Muhammad Iqbal Ebrahim, Chairman, Aptma welcomed the constitution of sub committee headed by Hina Rabbani Khar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Economic Affairs comprising of senior parliamentarians, bureaucrats and representatives of private sector to review the tariff issue and submit its recommendations acceptable to all the stakeholders to the special committee for its consideration and final approval.
Chairman Aptma has appreciated the efforts of Dr Muhammad Farooq Sattar, MNA and confident that he would play his due role and look after the interest of the stakeholders and the country. Chairman Aptma also appreciated the role of Raja Pervez Ashraf, Shaukat Tarin, Hina Rabbani Khar and other government officials.
Chairman Aptma further said that the constitution of special committee to review the unprecedented increase in power tariff and to find out its solution acceptable to all the stakeholders is government's right step in right direction otherwise it would have an adverse impact on the industrial sector which is already facing multifarious problems including high cost of doing business.-PR
