Public transport owners in twin cities of Rawalpindi-Islamabad have increased fares, which is causing daily brawl between conductors and passengers. The daily travellers in public transport have demanded of the authorities concerned to take notice of the situation.
Public transport owners in connivance with regional transport authority have increased stop-to-stop fare up to Rs 12 without any increase in petroleum products in local market.
"The transport owners are charging Rs 12 per stop from passengers, which is totally unjustified, as no increase in the oil prices for the last two months," said Aftab Khan, an employee at private company in Blue Area Islamabad. Muhammad Shafiq a student of local college said "Due to increase in the fares of local transport we use to go by private taxi if we are three or more than three friends because it is cheaper than the fares of public transport."
