A British citizen and Human Rights activist Yvonne Ridley asked the government of Pakistan to help her in finding the prisoner 650 and other Asian and Arab women along with Aafia Siddique who have been kidnapped.
She was addressing to a joint press conference with Chairman, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf Imran Khan here on Tuesday. She said that it is very sad that Dr Aafia Siddiqui has been continually abused over a five-year period since she was kidnapped with her three children.
I found it deplorable that having been shot by the American military in a scenario that even a Hollywood script writer would find difficult to concoct, the foreigner woman maintained.
She said that now we have more news about prisoner 650, which had been kidnapped for at least last two years and kept in Bagram jail without trial while repeatedly 'raped and abused'. Prisoner 650 was not the only Muslim women who have been held in Bagram, there are more others of whom now I am preparing a list, she added.
She said that now I asked Imran Khan for his help who is already involved in fighting for the missing people to come forward to fight jointly. Criticising the government policies, PTI Chairman said on the occasion that the present government is still following the policies of the previous government, which has brought the country to the edge of destruction. Imran said that bombing is not the solution to eliminate the extremism and terrorism that is why the fire has been prevailed over the whole tribal area where its solution is unimaginable.
In responding to a question he said that this mini-jirga could not find the solution of the problems until those people who are targeted directly by these bombings, until their involvement. He said that it is shameful for us that a foreigner has come to our country while seeking our help to search our missing people. He asked the government to arrange an advocate for Dr Afia who is not satisfied with her advocate as her brother reported.
He said that countries could only justify their existence if they protect lives and fundamental rights of the citizens. He asked the government to revise its policies regarding the ongoing operation in tribal areas and take action to search the missing people.
