The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has stopped leaves encashment of its workers, which have been due for last four years, owing to financial crunch. However, around 6500 former Karachi Development Authority (KDA) staffs are waiting for their leave encashment since 2004.
"We reserve the right to protest if the city government did not issue the encashment of leaves, ordered by Aga Siraj Durrani, provincial minister for local government as a response against complaints filed by the KDA staff", representatives of CBA Mazdoor Union (MU) told Business Recorder on Wednesday.
They also alleged the management of CDGK to approve encashment leaves of other departments except KDA and added that the staffers of Malir Development Authority (MDA), Lyari Development Authority (LDA), Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) and the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) are being entertained in this regard. Abdul Mateen, the Union's Leader said that union members have met Executive District Officer (EDO) Finance on Wednesday and have expressed their serious concerned over the issue.
He apprised that union has decided to make issue public by protesting at Karachi Press Club, if positive measures were not taken by the administration. "We had already registered our protest before DCO on Saturday," he maintained. The frustration among KDA staffs also effects their performance as they sacrifice the official leaves of 30 days and continue the job for more earnings, he said.
