The Lahore High Court has directed Inspector General of Punjab Police to resolve the matter of 10 traffic wardens within two months who were allegedly declare physically unfit for the posts and the department have issued them show cause notices for their removal. The judge issued these orders in three identical petitions filed by Muhammad Mashhad, Asif Ali and Anjum Shehzad.
The petitioners submitted that they applied for the posts of wardens in traffic police and succeeded in written test and interviews and were also declared medically fit by the Services Hospital Lahore.
They also said that they were appointed as wardens and were sent for training. They said after completion of their training they are also withdrawing their salaries with effect from November 1, 2007. They said on July 21 this year they were given a verbal order that their services were no more required for the department and they would not be given any salary in future. They said the orders were illegal and based on mala fide intentions. They prayed to the court to issue directions for the high ups not to remove them from services.
