The PIAF-Founders Alliance on Friday unfurled its five-year performance report, according to which over 100 standing committees at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) remained active throughout the year and played their due role in providing guidelines to the government departments to ensure smooth functioning of businesses.
The report says that the LCCI has proved itself an effective voice of the business community and highlighted all the business-related problems in winsome manner. On the issue of 35 percent L/C margin, the LCCI conveyed its concern to the highest authorities and thus succeeded in getting the condition withdrawn in shortest possible time. The Chamber, on the power and gas price hike issue, gave a strike call and forced the government to reconsider its decision.
The LCCI also arranged a get-to-gather with all the foreign ambassadors posted in Islamabad and apprised them of the issues faced by the business community while dealing with their respective countries.
The issues including strengthening of rupee value, cut in fast going up cost of doing business and law and order situation were also brought to the limelight to attract the government attention. The Chamber also hosted All Pakistan Trade Bodies Conference and forwarded proposals to the government as to how the ongoing economic meltdown could be tackled.
Meanwhile, the Chairmen of Press Co-ordination Committee of the PIAF-Founders Alliance, Iftikhar Ali Malik and Irfan Qaiser while expressing their satisfaction over the office-bearers performance, said the Alliance is introducing experienced and energetic candidates for the forthcoming LCCI polls so they could be able to play their role in right manner.
