Chief Minister Punjab Mian Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif has issues directive for making Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) more vibrant and efficient besides making all recruitment purely on merit. Talking to PPSC Chairman and members at Chief Minister's Secretariat here on Friday, he further directed to accelerate the process of recruitment, assuring the government will extend every facility to the commission in this regard.
Chief Secretary Punjab, Additional Chief Secretary, and Secretary Services were also present on the occasion. The Chief Minister said only eligible and suitable candidates should be selected for 500 posts of Assistant Sub-Inspector so that they could not only curb crimes but also prove to be guardians of the masses. He said that the Commission had ensured complete transparency in the recruitment of 300 Sub-Inspectors during his last tenure.
He said that strengthening of all institutions was the responsibility of the government so that they could function properly and impartially. He said that during his visit to various areas of the province, he had himself observed the pathetic condition of educational institutions. Therefore, he said, he was giving top priority to bringing about revolutionary changes in education sector. He urged the Commission to further expedite recruitment process in various departments besides ensuring transparency.
He directed that the system of tests and interviews for the selection of candidates be improved so that only eligible candidates could come forward. Chairman Punjab Public Service Commission, Shahzad Hassan Pervaiz apprised the Chief Minister of the performance of the Commission, procedure of tests and interviews, processing of applications for different vacancies as well as other matters.
He said that modern technology was being used for improving the efficiency of the Commission. He said that system of tests and interviews had been improved for evaluating ability of the candidates. He said that government had provided funds for purchasing 8-1/2 kanal land in Johar Town for the new building of the Commission where examination centre and offices would be established.
