Tanzara Art Gallery (TAG) will open an exhibition of paintings by six renowned artists here on November 6. The display of paintings would continue till November 21 featuring the works of Akram Dost, Kaleem Khan, Nahid Raza, Shammi Ahmad, Tabinda Chinoy and Zoay.
Akram Dost Balauch's art reflects the socio-political conditions prevalent in the country, as his paintings are strong and reflective, yet having decorative borders surrounding mask like faces and figures. Kaleem Khan is famous for his impressions of presenting Quetta, its environs and the particular way of life of the area coloured by the austere beauty of the landscape and its nomadic heritage.
Nahid's bold and adventurous style stems from the experiences of a women struggling to define her space and identity, guided by her belief in the invincibility of the female spirit. Shammi Ahmad, inspired by Picasso, imbues a sense of volume in her figurative art. Her smooth lines, colour co-ordination and balanced compositions render the images in a sharp and effective manner.
Tabinda exhibits a natural exuberance in her paintings using a strong colour palette as her paintings are reminiscent of a primitive form of art that celebrates womanhood. Zoay's work reverberates with an exuberant blending of opulent shapes and dazzling colours. The artist's lush figures are created with sweeping lines, impasto dots and marks that trace ethnic patterns. His images are intense, referring to an elemental passion that is both intuitive and instinctive.
