The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) on Tuesday donated blankets worth Rs 1.5 million for the earthquake victims of Balochistan. The donation was handed over to PML (N) Punjab President and Chief Minister Special Advisor, Sardar Zulfiqar Khan Khosa at the LCCI.
Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Zulfiqar Khan Khosa said the Punjab government would extend every possible help for the rehabilitation of quake-hit affectees. The Lahore's business community is quite conscious of its national duties and hopefully would extend more donations in coming days.
He further said that 14 trucks carrying food stuff had already been handed over to Balochistan government, while another 67 truckloads of food stuff and blankets were dispatched on Friday last. Moreover, he added that the provincial government had requested for 10,000 tents for the victims that are being arranged on war footing as it is a very big quantity and is not available with any manufacturer.
He said that Punjab was playing the role of elder brother and it would extend maximum co-operation in future as well. The LCCI President Mohammad Ali Mian said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry feels itself duty-bound to help Balochistan people in this hour need. He said that now it was the duty of the Balochistan government to ensure distribution of relief goods in every nook and corner of the affected area. The LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Muzaffar Ali and Vice President Shafqat Saeed Piracha were also present on the occasion.
