The Constituency Relations Project (CRP), which is on cards for four constituencies of NA 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Peshawar aims at creating actual democratic environment in the country and to bridge the gap between the elected MNAs and the common people of their respective constituency.
The CRP is headed by Association for Creation of Employment (ACE) and is being executed in 149 constituencies of Pakistan by Free and Fair Election Network (Fafen) in collaboration with Asia Foundation, says a press release. For this purpose a group of 25 people is formed in each constituency called Constituency Relations Group (CRG) that would act as a pressure group and would be involved in initiating different activities through which problems can be identified.
The CRG members have been conducting focus group discussion in Peshawar district wherein people from different walks of life would discuss the problems related to their profession and constituency. These problems would then be combined into the form of 'Charter of Demand" and presented to the respective MNA so as to find solution to it.
Moreover, Association for Creation of Employment has also launched postcards campaign through its CRG members and around 30,000 postcards would be distributed among the common people in the entire district so that they could write problems that they consider important for the development of the country and for which legislation could be formed. These postcards would be submitted to the respective MNAs for action. The major issues that have surfaced up till now were price hike of daily use commodities, unemployment and load shedding.
