US copper futures ended up over 6 percent on Tuesday, jumping back above the $2.00 a lb threshold at one point, as sharp gains in equities and a weaker dollar fuelled the short-covering rally. Copper for December delivery surged 11.80 cents, or 6.4 percent, to settle at $1.9580 a lb on the New York Mercantile Exchange's COMEX division. Final volumes on Monday totalled 16,817 lots.
