An election tribunal headed by a judge of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday adjourned the hearing to November 23, for recording evidence in an election petition filed by a PPP candidate challenging election of Moonis Elahi, son of former Chief Minister Punjab Pervaiz Elahi.
Petitioner Nasir Mahmood Samma submitted to the honourable court that he contested election from PP 110 as rival candidate of Moonis on the ticket of PPP, while Imran Ullah was the candidate of PML-N from the same constituency. He alleged that Gujrat district government of the PML-Q fully supported Elahi and rigged the election.
He said his voters were threatened of dire consequences for voting in his favour. He said out of total 127 polling stations, he won from 108 polling stations but through rigging Moonis was declared winning candidate. He prayed that the notification of the success of Moonis from PP 110 be set aside and declared him successful candidate.
