Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday directed Ministry of Interior to inform it within two weeks about the fate of Dr Abdur Razzaq who went missing from Railways Hospital. The single bench of Chief Justice Sardar Mohammad Aslam adjourned hearing of a writ petition for two weeks.
Dr Razaq went missing on September 22 as he did not return home after performing his duties at Railways Hospital. Afzoona Kausar wife of Dr Abdur Razzaq had invoked the court for the safe recovery of her husband.
Earlier, Colonel Iqbal Haider Cheema (retd) representing the Crises Management Cell had told the court that all concerned agencies were making efforts to trace whereabouts of the doctor. The petitioner stated that the household had been receiving dubious telephone calls. She said that the interior ministry through its sophisticated equipment could track the phone calls to trace the culprits.
"Her husband has never been involved in anything against the state or the law and if there were some allegations against him he might be tried in an open court," she pleaded.
She prayed to the court to direct the concerned authorities to recover the doctor saying the family was undergoing mental agony. The petitioner had nominated the Federation, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defence, Inspector General Islamabad police, Deputy Inspector General Rawalpindi range, SHO Ganjmandi police station and SHO Shalimar police station as respondents.
